I run a design & illustration studio that manages an upcoming arts magazine (amongst others), frequenter of the local arts scene, sometime Public Relations manager of Comic Fiesta, copywriter, writer, comic artist, youth entrepreneur and full-time creative. Criminal Record: An Illustrator by training, I’ve been drawing seriously in the manga style for about 5 years. Starting from an eclectic mix of Sailormoon, Archie comics and Tin Tin, like many of my contemporaries, manga played a crucial role in my artistic development. I hope to achieve a hybrid style that speaks illustration design + sequential art. Being afflicted with OCD, I always take too long on one artwork because I keep trying to perfect it. I would’ve never thought that having the tendency to draw feminine men would one day prove very useful ;) PS: Believe it or not, I can draw females! Interrogation Statement: Drawing androgynous characters has never been better! Working on Bloggerboy is a real joy; each week I eagerly await Rafidah’s scripts as reading them just makes my day (and argh those cliffhangers)! The things she asks of me really push some boundaries though… artistically. I had to draw a lot of things I would otherwise never have, and I find it easier to draw when I don’t think that it would be on national TV. I profess an attachment to Budi and support B x N!! |
